Choose a kibble that is formulated for puppies, especially large breed puppies. Some brands do have formulas that are labeled as “all ages” or “all life stages.” Those brands are fine as long as they are a high quality kibble, and have all the qualities of a good kibble. Below are some of the things to look for in choosing a high quality kibble for your XL American Bully puppy. It is important that you look for foods formulated for large breeds.
Ingredients
Your best choice would be to choose a kibble who has listed as one of the first couple of ingredients meat, poultry, or fish. You would want to stay away from corn/grain, soy, gluten, and any bone or corn meal of any kind. Usually the front of the bag will display the statements of “corn-free,” “grain-free,” “gluten-free,” and/or “soy-free.” These ingredients are not easily digestable (they cause gas, stomach upset, or frequent pooping) or they are known allergens for dilute coated dogs and some breeds (cause skin and coat issues). So it is best just to stay away from puppy kibble that has these ingredients.
How Often and How Much Do I Feed My Puppy?
It is best to start by feeding your puppy according to the instructions on the kibble bag. Adjust your puppy’s food according to their appetite – increase if the recommended amount is eaten quickly, decrease the amount or maintain the amount when your puppy seems satisfied or a good amount is left over for the day.
